Food is our medicine, so why are diseases such as DEMENTIA, DIABETES AND ALZHEIMER’S becoming so common? In fact Dementia is the 2nd leading cause of death in the UK and rising. Plus if you are pre-diabetic or indeed diabetic, you are at greater risk of negatively impacting your mental health going forward and contracting brain degenerative diseases. But don’t panic there are many ways in which you can give a lot of love ? back to that very important organ, your BRAIN.

IMPROVE YOUR BRAIN HEALTH

? Create new brain cells – yes you can!

? Reduce inflammation and oxidative stress

??‍♀️?‍♂️Increase exercise especially cardio-vascular, muscular strength and stability.

?Give it a rest! Your brain needs 8-9 hours rest a day simply to regenerate its cells and eliminate toxins from the body efficiently.

?‍♀️ Stress reduction is the key to reducing negative structural changes in the brain

HERE ARE A FEW WAYS TO DO IT THROUGH NUTRITION………..

?Remove or decrease the inflammatory foods you eat, such as refined carbohydrates, refined sugars, processed meals, processed foods and snacks, use of vegetable oils, and reduce salt.

?Increase foods high in polyphenols(the colourful part of fruit & vegetables)

* VEGETABLES

* FRUIT

* NUTS

* SEEDS

* PULSES & LEGUMES

 ? Increase foods high in Omega 3

* OILY FISH

* NUTS

* SEEDS

* *If Vegan or Vegetarian I would advise adding a supplement here too.

?Increase anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative foods

* BERRIES

* GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES

* HERBS & SPICES

? Feed your Brain the right sugar…..it depends on it to function!

* But choose Slow release, high fibre ones!

* Whole grains like red or wild rice, oats, quinoa, buckwheat, barley, corn etc

?Keep hydrated

* Helps transports nutrients around your body

* Delivers oxygen around your body

* Cell structures rely on it to replenish and stay strong
